The Cage of Lies
Synopsis:
My husband, Jason, faked amnesia to get his girlfriend, Brittany, promoted to vice president -and to get rid of me.
I overheard Brittany say, “Aren’t you worried your wife won’t forgive you for this?”
Jason shrugged it off, “It’s just a little game for a week. Then I’ll claim my memory’s back. She can’t blame a sick guy, right?”
I froze, but didn’t expose him.
The next day, at the board meeting, Jason slammed his fist on the table.
He declared Brittany his wife and demanded I leave the company, handing over all my projects.
Every employee watched, waiting for me to stop his ridiculous tantrum.
I didn’t resist. I quietly signed the resignation papers.
He didn’t know the project deadline was only seven days away, and the client only worked with me, the key personnel.
In seven days, he wouldn’t get what he wanted.
